Elton John has a whole lot to say to Dolce and Gabbana
There’s one thing you don’t do and that is get in between a mama bear and her cubs – or in this instance Elton John and his adorable children.
That’s exactly what Dolce and Gabbana (who have clothed some of the celebrity world’s top stars, was founded 30 years ago by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbano. Their designs have been worn by Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Christian Bale and many other movie stars.) did when they made their most hypocrite, outrageous, and ridiculous statement about gay adoption, and IVF in general.
The fashion founders of their line who were once a couple told a magazine in Panama that they support only traditional marriage- between a man and a woman.
“You are born to a mother and a father – or at least that’s how it should be”, Domenico Dolce continues, adding that procreation “must be an act of love.”
And Elton John one of the most amazing musicians, activists and fantastic parents on the planet replied with:
“How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic.” And shame on you for wagging your judgmental little fingers at IVF — a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfill their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana
I’d like to respond to Domenico Dolce and say :
As a parent who wanted nothing more than to be a mother I find the statement from you so incredibly insensitive and outrageous. How can you possibly state children conceived outside of the marital bed are not born of love. Infertility is probably one of the most incredibly painful, stressful, and brutal experiences anyone can go through male or female. The children created through IVF, egg donation, sperm donation or surrogacy are incredibly planned for, wanted, and desired. And let’s not forgetthose children who are adopted regardless of who adopts them – heterosexual married couples, single mothers by choice, single fathers by choice, or same-sex couples – those children are so wanted, so planned for, and so loved.
The bottom line is all of these children are so highly anticipated, longed for, and waited for – the love, caring and nurturing that goes into the care of thse children is like no there. So for you to make kinda statements leaves me with just shaking my head.
I’m with Elton John I’m never ever wearing your line ever again.
